10.07.2015: ISO 9001:2015 FDIS released!

The Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) 9001:2015, has been released by BSI.
ISO member countries have 2 months to form a national position and vote on the latest draft of the standard before the 9 September deadline.
According to Mr. Nigel Croft, Chair of the ISO subcommittee revising the standard, the changes compared to the DIS version are relatively minor: “The most extensive ones have been to the Introduction and figures, which have been greatly simplified, with some of the explanatory text being moved to an informative Annex. The terms and definitions have now been removed from the standard and added to ISO 9000”.
On the other hand, if we are to refer to the changes compared to the previous versions of the standard, these are quite substantial. The 2015 version is even less prescriptive than its predecessors, but with an underlying philosophy that ‘output matters’. In other words, ISO 9001:2015 is very much performance-based, with a focus on what has to be achieved rather than how to achieve it. This was achieved by combining the process approach (which could be found also in 2000 and 2008 versions) with risk-based thinking.
The FDIS version of ISO 9001 standard will be available for purchasing both from the BSI website, as well as from the national standardization body (ASRO). The necessary links will be posted here, as soon as they become available.
