28.02.2015: ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 – IRCA transition training

Both ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 are due to be published later this year. IRCA’s representatives on the Technical Committees for these Standards are advising us to expect ISO 9001:2015 in September and ISO 14001:2015 in July/August.
All ISO standards go through a prescribed development process. At the draft international standard (DIS) stage public comment is invited. These are then considered and approved comments are taken forward into a final draft international standard (FDIS) which is then subject to a vote by National Bodies. If the FDIS is approved by National Bodies, then the main content is fixed. Only minor editorial changes can then be made before it is published as an ISO Standard.
Currently, we are part way between the DIS and FDIS stage for both 9001 and 14001. At this time, their content may still change. For this reason IRCA does not publish revised core training course or transition training course criteria until the FDIS ballot has been successful. As a result, there are no IRCA approved transition training courses currently available for QMS or EMS.
IRCA will not accept certificates of attendance on non-IRCA approved transition training courses for transitioning purposes. That is why all interested candidates should ensure that they look for an IRCA approved course prior to making any booking. IRCA is working hard to ensure that their training providers can offer IRCA approved transition training courses, as soon as possible, once the FDIS’s have been approved.
